As you prepare to leave campus for the holiday season, we want to ensure that you know how to access medical and mental health care while you’re away. Taking care of yourself is essential, no matter where you are, and we’re here to help make that as easy as possible. Below are some important resources and tips for accessing care during the holiday break.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use my health insurance outside of St. Louis?
Yes! The WUSM Student Health Insurance plan, through the Anthem network, is accepted throughout the United States. Call 833-332-0798 or visit www.anthem.com to search for in-network providers in your area. Simply present your anthem medical ID card to the anthem provider and pay any coinsurance/copayment amount. The anthem network copay is higher than the student health network on campus.
How can I access my Anthem insurance card?
Before traveling download the Sydney health mobile app. To access your insurance card, create an account at Sydney Health. You’ll be able to view your benefit details, access your digital ID card, find a provider, and visit with a doctor virtually through LiveHealth online. When creating your account, please use your legal name and double-check your email address for accuracy.
Does the Anthem insurance cover dental care?
Yes, Anthem’s network covers dental care. To use your dental benefits:
- Choose a dentist from the Anthem network – 877-567-1804

Can I use any retail pharmacy for prescriptions?

When picking up medication, be sure to present your Anthem Blue Cross card. A 20% patient responsibility applies, and some medications may not be covered, especially those over $250. For medications not covered, we encourage you to apply for patient assistance. For medication questions call 833-267-2133.
