Student Health Service
Student Health Services team provides students at Washington University School of Medicine with efficient, accessible, high-quality medical care, without undue financial burden, in order to prevent and treat health problems that may interfere with a student’s educational and professional goals while attending WUSM. The Student Health Service is the primary resource for all your health care needs. We are conveniently located on campus. We provide a full range of primary care medical services, mental health services, and health promotion and wellness services. The Office of Student Health Service is under the direction of Karen S. Winters, MD, a Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine and elected to the WUSM Chapter of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Winters obtained her bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Illinois State University and her medical degree from Southern Illinois University. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at the Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, which merged with Barnes Hospital to form Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
Dr. Winters is board certified in Internal Medicine. Her special interests include student health and women’s health needs. She is a member of the American College Health Association and a fellow of the American College of Physicians.
